About Us
Transportation Specialists serving the greater Midwest since 1971
Family Owned
Dutch Mill Trucking, Inc. was founded by Neil and wife Betty Jacobs in 1971. Dutch Mill Farm preceded the trucking company by about 2 decades, but was instrumental in the creation of the trucking company. DMT originally started out hauling cattle with roots tracing back to the farm. Neil was one of only a couple original drivers, while Betty worked from home in the office and took care of their five children.
Throughout the 1970's and 1980's the business grew to about 8 drivers. In 1986, Neil Jacobs passed away in a plane crash. Betty and the five children helped run the company and farm for the years following his passing. In 1989, Dutch Mill Trucking was sold to Harland Morehart. Morehart successfully ran the company for 11 years expanding the regional flat bed lineup.
Timothy Jacobs (son of Betty and Neil) purchased the company from Morehart in 2000. Tim expanded the lineup of flat bed trucks to 20 by 2010. On July 31, 2014 a fire erupted in the shop around 12:30 AM. An electrical malfunction ignited the fire and the entire shop was a complete loss. Three complete tractors were burned to the ground along with a countless number of other items.
After years of rebuilding, Tim Jacobs expanded Dutch Mill Trucking's services to include refrigerated units. These units typically run back and fourth from western states as the flat beds still run in the greater Midwest. As of 2021, DMT is still owned by current president Timothy and vice president Lesley Jacobs and one of their sons, third generation Ben Jacobs, is now driving.
